Sadly neither Gilbert or Rob have been on this forum for a long time ??.
Would that be Rob Bergin by any chance Mick? He was quite a prolific builder of whitemetal locos at one time, then mentioned increased family responsibilities if I remember correctly and stopped posting on here. I tried to contact him again a few years back, just to see if all was well, but had no success.
No idea Graeme , the "Rob" is the builder of the leaning forward A2 linked above. No other details known by me.
Current chassis running in with High Level Motor and Gearbox
Older A2 chassis with a Comet Box and Mashima Motor
Both models have made use of the original Romford drivers DJH supplied, 3 Insulated and Three Plain wheels.
On Durham I mucked about doing the wiring , so the Tender picked up from one side and Loco on the other side. On Hull I have decided to just use the Loco Chassis with pick ups on the insulated side and a wire connection to the live chassis much easier and works just as well.
A few months ago I toyed with the idea of trying to create 1 of the Raven pacific locos using a B12 chassis as I had previously seen ( although I cannot remember where ) a post ( not sure if on this forum or another forum ) where a B12 chassis was modified to create a B16 loco with the coupling and connecting rods set up very much like the Raven A2s, needless to say it wasn't a success as I did not know which cylinders I needed aswell as connecting rods for the driving wheel to cylinders etc and consequently I have not made any further attempts to recreate 1 of these locos although I wouldn't mind adding at least 1 to my fleet.
If anybody has any tips or suggestions on the best way to go about adding 1 to my loco fleet I welcome any advice you may have.

I've built a couple of A2s using the Hornby A3/B12/Hall chassis as a starting point. They've worked out okay, but everything apart from the drive unit has to be built from scratch. On the plus side it is a cheap way of building one.

Obviously I'm not working at Mick's level, but they were enjoyable to build and both run quite well.

The sheer length of the Raven really is quite something, very much in the ballpark of the GWR "Great Bear" which was another long one.
