Well whilst we're now waiting to get our hands on the loco kits we'll be needing, I went a bit further with our 3D model. This is what the finished display will look like in about a year from now. It will be 16 feet by 5 feet (approx 5m x 1.6m). We haven't decided whether to use fiddle yards or trepanners at each end yet.
Just to assure everyone about the link... http://kickme.to/dhm is working first time and every time.
Have a look now guys, we are still hoping for more photographs if anyone can help out.
a new model railway project.

I hope you mean traversers - trepanation is something slightly different, though it would certainly gather the crowds !joculator wrote:We haven't decided whether to use trepanners yet
So - did anyone dare tell Stephenson, "It's not Rocket science"?

I hope I meant traversers, too.
That's what I get for watching Master & Commander before posting an entry. Or it could have been the subliminal effects of a bullying career's master at school wanting me to become a brain surgeon.
Slap on head for me!

When choosing between a fiddle yard or a traverser (or trepanner!), one must always choose the lesser of two weevils...

Okay guys, bad jokes and puns have caused us to make a decision... (drum roll maestro!)
The winner.... even though it has less points... is...
The traverser!

Re: a new model railway project.
Well, after several weeks of researching, checking out various resources and all the other fiddly bits, we have hit a 'bit of a problem'. The department handling our grant application found no problem in encouraging us to have the project as an educational resource. The problem came when a new supervisor took over and in her wisdom, decided we should show this model to all the schools in the area. After several phone calls I found it difficult to make her realize that this model would eventually be almost 6x3 metres and weigh around 500Kg; it would take the best part of the day to assemble etc., etc. Well, I'm sure you guys can appreciate what moving a display model means and to move it around the county to 4-5 schools each week is not an option I'd like to have.
So unfortunately, we have decided to cancel the whole build.
I would like to thank all of you who contacted us and sent emails and other info. If we can find a private sponsor we may re-open the project at a later date.
Hell, I suppose they can recycle the money to cover some more politicians expense accounts
