Thank you John, they do look good even if I say so myself.
I see in the background there is JW's GNR articulated set, which looked very nice.
I can't remember if they ran that day.

Thank you Jonathan for the photo of John's, funny I don't remember seeing them run or the D49 pulling them.
Must be the alcohol and drugs making me forget, can't be age surely.

The amount you get through, I'm surprised they still have an effect.

Don't forget you need to be capable of getting upstairs on Sunday.

I understand his local bus route has a special lift to allow him to get upstairs on
the way back from the pub

Jonathan, stairs who said anything about stairs....I expect you to carry me.

I will let you know Paul, I had 2 pints last night, in the wonderful Royal Oak watching Gypsy Bill Williams playing the blues, anyone visiting York who likes the blues he's well worth seeing, he's there every Wednesday night.
Whilst on music I saw George Thorogood and the Destroyers on Sunday at the Barbican in York, well worth going to see and I never had a drink as I was driving.

Paul Craig (John Coffin) has just sent me some samples of his GNR 6 wheel carriage axleboxes, again amazing. I will be bringing them and the injectors to Thirsk on Sunday. Sorry the photo is not that good but they are bloody small.

You all may remember back in 2013 approx I started a D49 conversion.............well it's moved on again a coat of primer and the roof painted. Then I realised I had not fitted the footplate covers for the gear thingies, these will now be made.

Have to fess up, the axleboxes are a co-operation between 3 of us,
Rob Pulham of this parish, Mike Hopkins and I.

They are part of a long term project to get details made using modern
techniques, initially for GNR/LNER items since they are my interest,
however, if they are successful, they will be expanded.
Subject to demand of course.

We are joining a number of techniques to take advantage of both modern
technology and old fashioned ideas. I have the greatest respect for the
products produced via Mike Trice and others, just think that some things
need to be metal rather than resin.

But I am really pleased that the work we have been doing is producing some
lovely items which really enhance the model. I know many do not build for
static display, but these work too and I think give a better feel.

Pricing is being worked out at the moment.

Paul

ps we all believe you Dave!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought Rob might be involved somewhere Paul, thanks for the clarification and background to them.

The footplate covers for the D49 have been made from 10thou plasticard with 1mm sq stiffners to all joints and edges. This allows the radiused edges to be formed in the thin plastic. I then cut up a Comet etch of the box thingy and stock that on the front face. The reason I didn't use the Comet etch is I soldered up 2 others I had and did not like the end result, each to their own.....

Well it was really nice to meet up with old friends at Thirsk model railway show today, Rob and Chris Pulham, Jonathan, Graeme King, Peter, Martin (who still has not finished his LNER Garrett, and Mike from Monk Bar Model shop, just missed Scottiedog which was a shame. Some we have not seen since covid struck so a great day.

I also managed to fit the 2 thingy boxes onto the D49, now to make the sandbox filler caps which sit behind, another thing I had forgotten to do before I primed it.

Interlectual? Is that somewhat different from intellectual?
