I have always understood that 2509 Silver Link hauled the first streamliner trains for several weeks before the other Silvers appeared out of Doncaster.
A friend of mine showed me an image of 2510 Quicksilver claiming to be at the head of the first streamliner. I doubted the claim,
Can anyone clear this up? I suppose I could delve into the bowels of the internet but I thought I would ask the experts.
Kind regards
NG.

Re: A4's
It could just be semantics - the Silver Jubilee was the first LNER streamlined train and it's beyond doubt that 2510 hauled it on occasion.
It's equally beyond doubt as has been said above that 2509 was the first A4 out of works and handled the train alone until 2510 was released to traffic.

Re: A4's
It would be helpful if the caption to the picture could be quoted.
Only too easy for a misinterpretation of a caption such as: "2510 'Quicksilver's' first run on the streamlined Silver Jubilee train.", which readily misleads by omission of the information that this service had been initially worked exclusively by 2509 for three weeks.

A friend of mine is writing a book on the railways between 1923 and 1948. He showed me the image of 2510 with a brief description of the photograph but you could be right about it being the loco's first run. I must look again at the image. However I was right that Silver Link ran the service for three weeks. The grey cells are not yet fading.
