Gresley a1/3 or 4 radius rod drawing sought

Post by greenglade »

Morning all,

As some will be aware I am building a 5 " model of a Gresley A1 to Don Young's design and I wonder if anyone can help me with a work's drawing for the A1/3 or 4 radius rod? Don's drawing does not follow full size around the knuckle which the expansion link slides into, I'd like to see if I can make mine more prototypical. I took some close-up photos of FS in 2016 and it was one of these which has alerted me to the difference. I have further confirmed this with photos from SNG's overhaul and a very small drawing of the motion from the 1924 Wembley EX booklet which clearly shows the knuckle to be 'offset'. I'm not sure yet if it's possible to include the proper shape as it may not fit but if I can I shall., I will, of course, keep the all-important CTS as drawn by Don between the combination lever and expansion link.
