I think I may have seen #1 on display at Skagway. The Whitepass & Yukon is now a tourist line so they don't need the plough except for demos or when they're making a video.

I think one of the preserved Colorado lines also has a working snow blower / plough.

NSE had a snowblower which they bought after the last heavy snowfalls 18 years ago. It sat around in a siding for tewn or so years before being redeployed to Scotland. It looked pretty though http://www.ontrackplant.com/photo/968501a

I think you will find that the blower in question was actually bought for the Highlands and kept at Inverness. It was hurriedly deployed south for one winter and hardly used again.

That's correct - although I think there were actually two Beilhack snowblowers. We did have cause to use them from time to time on the Far North line between Inverness and Wick/Thurso.

If you can find a copy, The Video "Fight for Donner Pass" is a revealing insight into USA methods of dealing with Ice and snow.
The video features everything from Flangers and Spreaders through Steam Rotaries to Shotguns.

i have somewhere seen a picture of a double ended snow plough cant remember where?

3 that I know of.
1 from the states about 1850 The CPs BUCKLER Snowplough.

Then NER plough number 17 became 900571. built 1907 at York based on a Dia M1 shunting truck. worked most of its life on and around the Tyneside electric lines based at South Gosforth until 1947. Plans available at the NRM.

Finally the Southern built 2 near exact replicas of NER 17 at Ashford in 1949, do not know any details though.

Are you the same Bryan from the NYMR who owns the NER snowplough. If you are what clour is it going to be when it returns from Shildon? Hope its LNER engineers Blue.

If someone can supply a colour photo of number 18 in LNER Blue I will think about it.
Otherwise as it is an NER vehicle. I am intending a restoration into Indian Red.
Similar to the NRM plough but maybe without the red rear end as there is some doubt as to whether it actually had this shade of red applied.
I have found no trace of any variation in the colour at the rear on any timber I have checked to date.

LNER Oxford blue. The number is ficticious but i do have a one the same as No 18 as well but it's not lettered. How much room is there inside. I believe there are supposed to be bunks and lockers inside is that correct?
