Re: NXEC
No bonus for you this year, Mr Bedford, but expect the Chief Executive of Network Rail to collect a £500,000 bonus - and worth every penny too, so guess who pays for that:Bill Bedford wrote:You mean like Banks????CVR1865 wrote:Not for Profit organisation.
a) the taxpayer?
b) the farepayer?
c) both?
Answers on a white fiver to HQ1, Hitchin in the internal post, please...
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!
Re: NXEC
More cost cutting, but I think they have boobed this time!

A revealing choice of words 52A, but seriously, what the hell is going on over there?
Are they a bunch of greedy scummy morons, or what?

Re: NXEC
It is rather a shame to think that the same company who did so much to improve the Fenchurch services is now so deplorable. Where did it all go wrong....
don't forget about the Great Eastern Railway
Re: NXEC
Heard a whisper yesterday that all platform staff have been issued with redundancy notices, NXEC want a 50% cut in numbers. They will probably have a plan to give passengers £5 off a ticket if they start their own trains out of the stations!

Re: NXEC
Go down great in York that with the curved platforms. At times it takes at least 2 of them to pass the ok down to the guard!

Re: NXEC
NXEC on very, very, dodgy ground trying to cut numbers of staff needed to dispatch a train, lads - especially on a curved platform where the guard cannot see the front end. Likely to attract all sorts of unwelcome attention if anyone says that it is unsafe with the potential for people and their clothing to get caught in doors and then trains moving off..... Mind you, wasn't it the newly privatised GE that was going to get passengers to act as guards on their EMUs to work and back again in the peaks?

Re: NXEC
I believe that has happened as we are also monitoring tickets and use of first class. Hence you can now leave trains in motion no need for a ticket and sit where you like with 1st merely being a suggestion.

Re: NXEC
why not fit a mailbag type apparatus at all stations so that the trains can pick up passengers without stopping thus saving all platform staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: NXEC
There is a precedent for this as well! In 1884 a mail train en route Newcastle to Edinburgh picked up a passenger standing on a platform somewhere south of Berwick and took him through to Edinburgh. Luckily he wasn't seriously injured. But please don't put ideas into NXEC minds, they would probably try it if they thought there was money in it.
Re: NXEC
Article this morning highlighting financial problems of NXEC and it's drive towards economies, noted in these posts. The company shares have reportedly lost three quarters of their value in the past year. One of the candidates as the new Chairman is -wait for it - Sir James Crosby - ring any bells? - man about the news recently, HBOS? FSA?. It's a larf ain't it?
The government is reportedly considering freezing ticket prices on regulated fares, NOT from rises, but because they might have needed to FALL under the present pricing mechanism with the current deflationery situation. As a pathetic fig leaf they ( the government )are reportedly also introducing a scheme subsidising rail fares for job seekers. If it wasn't so sad and it would be hilarious.

Last night's Yorkshire Evening Post carried a story about MP's asking questions about NXEC in the Houses of Parliament. If only Sea Containers hadn't been in trouble.GNER might not have been perfect, but their return would be heralded.
Bring back Ferrybridge station!
