Pontefract to London by HST!

Post by Ferrybridge Flyer »

Great news that Great Northern have been given the go-ahead to run an express service from Bradford to London via Pontefract. This means the trains will pass my house on their way through Ferrybridge, before taking the curve at Knottingley to head for Doncaster.Whether they use Monkhill or Tanshelf station in Pontefract,a hell of a lot of money is going to have to be spent to bring them up to standard.Monkhill station would be the sensible choice, but right now it's not just desolate,it's desperate!Does anyone else have a comment on this?

Very interesting piece on Look North this week regarding new services to Kings X. Slightly dissapointing was lack of progress on Harrogate to KingsX. The simplistic diagram on the news report seemed to suggest that a Harrogate service would run via Knaresborough and on to York rather than via the more congested route via Leeds. That would be great if it ever happened but I am sure would require double track reinstating on the Knaresborough to Cattal and Hammerton to Poppleton sections.

The HUll Trains Harrogate to KX looked good, but there are to be rejected, don't get Hull Trains up here, and I have to cross that line 6 times a day to work and back, infact I also cross the main line twice too!

Yes, they should go round past Rockware onto the Askern branch through Spring Lodge Crossing through Askern onto Doncaster.Wont that improve things through Knottingley!Might spend more time on the station! Have to stand on the bridge though-that fencing on the platform doesn't help.Maybe if the station had been left as it was with the roof etc,it would have been a fitting station to host express trains instead of the bus-sheltered excuse it is today.

The Askern branch has a number of track renewal sites in place for next year.
Would this be linked to the new service?

No we're ok at the mo, today and tomorrow we're doing 10 pallets ready to go out on the 18th, normally we'd be doing them on the 17th!!
We're so quiet that we do an hour overtime as undertime each morning, but being quiet we've cut it and finish an hour early!
So any one got times for tornado on the 16th?
