National Express to ban spectators at Darlington

Post by karlrestall »

Hi All,

I suppose this goes here;

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/featur ... portunity/

and

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/4 ... _buffers_/

As the first article says, what a missed opportunity for Darlington; I'm sure there will be a lot of dissapointed people and how exactly do they intend stopping people getting onto the platforms?

I note that as of 2:10pm today (British time...not Japan time) National Express have reversed their decision and consented to allow spectators. I wonder why!?
All I can say is that I am glad that pressure has obviously been applied somewhere.
The original decision to ban people from the platforms made me see red, and I live 10,000km away. :evil: (you know I'm mad because I never use smilies)
What has happened to the world? :cry:

Glad something has been done about this.It could set a real precedent.All i want to do on railway stations is photograph trains.I AM NOT A TERRORIST!!! I can decide whether it ios too cold!And if previous posts about NXEC are to be believed,they have much bigger things to worry about!

I do hope that some "bright young thing !!" at NXEC gets his/her ears well and truly frazzled over this [ for them] PR disaster. I wouldn't care but when GNER had the ECML franchise they had large banners at Bank Top supporting the A1 project for many years. For this to happen in the town where the engine was built is unbelievable. I am shaking my head in wonderment at the utterly crass stupidity of the person responsible. Dear God no wonder the railways are in a state with people like that in managerial positions.
