I'm still progressing with 4472's brake gear, it's been very slow progress of late as I've not been in the workshop much, I do however have the latest blog entry to share today.
yes, those chains are very much a safety factor... IIRC they can support 1600kg each...the electric hoist though is rated for 200kg which is about double the weight of the loco when complete. 'D' shackles are somewhere inbetween.. there are also two extra chains used as safety ties direct to the jib in case the hoist ever slipped.....I think I have it covered...
Pete this loco has got to rank as one of the finest 5" gauge loco that is being made anywhere. the attention to detail and capturing the whole of the a3 is amazing. A lot of people may of taken shortcuts or cut some of the features to make a simpler and less well made representation. I look down at my CME watch and think. how can I do the same?!

evening all, tonight's blog update shows the final assembly of the brake rig and being painted, later in the week I hope to be able to refit the rig to the chassis and test it.
We now have working brakes, well should I say in as far as when hanging from the lifting jib, they will, of course, need final adjusting once sitting under its full weight on rails.

yes I'll be keeping my blog updated with video's once finished, she'll be based at North London SME but I also plan to visit other clubs when I can..
Good evening all, I am now returning to the motion, to begin with, I'll concentrate on the conjugated 2:1 gear...after this I may finally get back to the cylinders and the valve bobbins which is basically all they require. We'll see what transpires, as some of you will know, I have a bad habit of deviating of course...
