Regarding the J39 and locos for export to Brazil photo:
I'm almost sure the caption is wrong. Was looking through the history of Armstrong Whitworth and they didn't build any locos for Brazil..........but.........hang on...........
they did build 30 Ms-6a class compound 4-8-4T suburban tanks (10 in 1927, 20 in 1930) for the Central Argentine Railway (F.C.C.A). Seems to me that this photo shows the 1930 batch.

I don't think so.

The FCCA was a 5'6" gauge railway and these look like narrow gauge to me. I suspect they are a batch of four metre gauge 4-6-2T built in 1930 for the Leopoldina Rly, which was in, err.............. Brazil.

not a live in school , looks like platform 5, where the blyth and newbiggin trains started and finished at,and somtimes a short electric from the coast ,but i can ever recollect one ever in there

What a brilliantly evocative shot of P10 at King's Cross. Fifty years ago last Saturday. Those school boys there in their rain macs and school uniform caps ,imagine kids wearing school uniform on a weekend now -if at all! Their gear carried in school satchels. We all had haversacks ex army surplus 4/- from the Army & Navy Stores. Flush sided tender on the engine so maybe one of the Darlington build 60130 -60152? Is that a duffle coat on the far left? Still available today, but now something of an fashion item I am told.

Yup. I had a haversack too. All the rage at my school, but you had to have the cover flap painted (made it stiff as a board, but weatherproof). I painted Dave Gilmour of Pink Floyd on mine.
