Re: Bridges
I give in with Malcolms shot, my aerial view is Southside, near Warkworth. I will find an easier one.
Re: Bridges
To help with my shot, here is what the viaduct looks like now (it's a listed structure).

Re: Bridges
I think Tommy knows where that one is,didnt realise it was listed though. Its about 2 miles from my house. I believe it has graffiti on the other side regarding a local football team which is a dead giveaway. I will let some one else fill the details in. It looks derelict but it is in use. Quite a change from earlier picture. Roughly halfway between my house and the viaduct is a pub called The Five Arches named after it.
I am kicking myself over 52As aerial shot, I thought it was in North Northumberland, I went up and down the ECML and branches in my head but somehow left the River Coquet bridge out, i will be in author Bart Rippons bad books for not recognising it.

Re: Bridges
Durham?
Re: Bridges
52D,
Yes, well done George. It is the Five Arches Viaduct near Wadsley Bridge, north of Sheffield on the old GCR.
52A,
Definitely Durham, and a very nice picture if I do say so. Good one my old friend.
Just out of curiosity what plane were you in?

Re: Bridges
Yes, it is a good one of Durham. My student digs were just off the right of the picture, but at least you got our Local in ("The Bridge"). Being a little out from central Durham and the main campus meant the pub was usually free of undergrads
(I was doing an MSc at the time)
Going by the HST livery and lack of pylons, it is probably from the 1980s? Or late 1970s?
Class 91s in the Swallow Livery were the order of the day when I was there, although there were also MGRs and HSTs.

Yes Durham it is taken about 1989 from an old Piper. The other one was taken about 5 years ago from a Cessna. The Bridge, yes many happy memories of a pint or 12!jwealleans wrote:Durham?
Here is another one taken from zero feet AGL. Railway long gone but bridge survives.

The Keilder Railway viaduct built in 1862 as a joint project of the Border Counties Railway and the North British Railway as part of its extension to Riccarton Junction?
