GCR super gala could happern in October

I am aranging to meet a friend from another forum at the NYMR gala on may 19/20/21 at the railway tavern (grosmont railway crossing) on saturday night as I will be linesiding all day. As for getting all serviving LNER locos together it could be done but it would be EXPENSIVE barrow hill being a prime place. We are getting 2 B1s and a B12 together remember and there is talk of 3442 and 62005 working to malliag together in the future as well as 4 A4s at york they may not be all together but there are some good reunions to go and see. As for the event the idea is to create a GCR of the 1960s not the ECML so the talk of 78019, 45305, 92212, 92214, 63601 and the GWR did work on the GCR for a time on local traffic so 4141 fits as does bringing 30777 into the mix its not a bullied pacific (Royal Mail worked over the GCR in the 60s) but its a good substiute.

The line up locos the GCR are aiming for are 45305, 78019, 4141, 30777, 63601, 92212 or 92214, the super D and either 53809 or 63395 as well as a few diesels to make the timetable as intesive as possible and attract a wider range of enthusiasts to attend. Its all about vistor numbers remember and if we make it more LNER orientated it will lower the appeal to fans of for example the Southern or Western region at least this way they are catered for as well. Things are not final yet the only garenty the GCR have givern me is at least 3 heavy freight locos with there prime targets being the Super D and a 9f with the others that have interest being 53809, 63395 and an 8f possibly 48305 depending on work or 48151

Weve had a replay about getting 92212 and the GCR are currently in the process of working towards the hire agreement. 63395 will be the next enquirey target anyone got an email address for the owners

Super D 49395 is now under consideration by LNWR at crewe for the event as is 92212 at the GCR and both locos all being well could be booked by mid april. 7f is the next target as the over haul of 63395 is an unknown quantity. The fall back loco is looking like the ELRs 4f 44422 or the Bluebells Q1. What are peoples thoughts on these developments and which is prefered 44422 or a Q1

the Q1 needs an overhaul! can you ask the bluebell for the U Class

NELPG owns the Q6, website www.nelpg.org.uk might be worth ringing them instead, my e-mails never seem to get through, would be a good opportunity for other NELPG members down south to see one of the locos closer to them as well, as far as I know the Q6 should be done by summer, I think

Why the 7F? Sure its nice, but its not authentic for the GCR. And theres no point in 2 9Fs.

Personally, I think you are going WAY over the top....the costs will be phenomenal. Why not go for the following?

Heavy Freight Gala

92212
63601
63395
49395
48305

and a supporting cast of

4141
30777
45405
78019

9 locos, only hiring in 3, a lot people will want to see, run lots of freight, and your onto a winner!

I highly doubt that the GCR is so short of ideas that somebody with an idea to hire in god knows how many locomotives in is helping us with a gala.

It costs us something in the region of £5,000 to bring a locomotive in for a Gala Weekend, and you want to bring in three of them!

I'll see if anybody knows anything about this.

By the way, I like the idea of a Freight Gala, we could theoretically run a P-Way, Mixed Goods, Box Van and Windcutter Train, as well as a Parcels and TPO Train, they're all freight!

Well I'm willing to believe you, as from what I understand the Autumn Gala doesnt have an organiser to contact, so it's entirely possible, it's just I dont see why we would need outside help.

Inital cosyt estimate has come through from the GCR and its around 20K so we may need to drop a loco and I would like people to suggest fund raising opertunitys.
