D0280 Falcon
The January 1962 edition of Modern Railways notes that D0280 Falcon was trialed on the former GER lines in November 1961 on the Liverpool-Norwich lone...does any member have any records of this visit or know of any photographs of the loco when operating during this period on the ex Great Eastern Lines?

There's a photo of this loco around this period in the "Mainline Lament" showing this loco stored at the back of the Brush works in Loughborough awaiting dismantling, I haven't seen any other images , though this image could be a year or so later as it's not dated. I remember seeing the loco during this period in the Leicester area.

Re: D0280 Falcon
Ay up!
Falcon was tried out on all lines, having a Pullman train from Sheffield down the GC at one point.
She was bought by BR and renumbered 1200 and sent to the Western Region where her Maybach engines were familiar. The rundown of the Western Ragion hydraulics condemned her to a short life before scrapping.

If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

I am not familiar with the head codes but this should help to identify the train.ArthurK

Arthur,
I believe it is the later version of the Master Cutler.

Re: D0280 Falcon
Correct, the up Master Cutler was 1B20 and the unnamed afternoon up working, often referred to as the Sheffield Pullman, was 1B21.
