Still looking but this appeared in an Australian newspaper which would suggest the accident was 11 August 1952....

It only talks of one fatality, but several more seriously injured. Perhaps they subsequently died or maybe the numbers were incorrect on either report.

A very sad accident indeed.

An interesting photograph i remember having several rides on that miniture narrow guage railway around the Alley Pally boating lake back around the summer of 1964 with the green A4 pulling the train.

I visited the Alley Pally and it's boating lake about 20 years ago in the early 1990s and all traces of the miniture narrow guage railway have disappeared except the station platform which at the time of my visit was occupied by the boat house and a cafe.

If you didn't know that there had been a miniture narrow guage railway there before you wouldn't recognise the station platform.

There was even an engine shed and a signal gantry as well i recall back in 1964.

Fond memories as a kid trundling around the boating lake. I still have pics somewhere of me, my brother and my three girl cousins on one of the carriages. I'm guessing it would have been around '53...

Great aren't they, I so remember that train going around the lake.

On the map of Wood Green, near the racecourse, is a swimming pool, it was derelict in the early 60's but my dad (now 93) can remember going for a swim in it in the mid 30's.

For me it would be more like 1956. As I said in a previous post in this thread, my friends and I would jump into the back of the train for a free ride, until the fairground people who ran the railway planted a couple of heavies who bodily threw us off the train!

Many thanks for the link to your simulation on YouTube, Mick. I can see how it's taken 10 years to put that together. I pulled out my Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace book and stepped through that at the same time and it was an enjoyable 20 minutes living the line again.

I'm sure there are many on RMweb who would be interested.
