Location request
Attached is a recently acquired image from a superb quality negative: 60025 on the Tees - Tyne Pullman but can you place exactly where the shot was taken, please?

Re: Location request
Tempted to say Ganwick - that's fudging it a bit. Bet Mickey or Steve G will nail it.
Re: Location request
My thought is approaching Marshmoor with the Down service.

Re: Location request
Pretty sure that's correct, on the embankment midway between the present Brookmans Park and Welham Green stations with Peplin's Wood on the far side of the line. There's a bridleway giving access to the location.
Re: Location request
That is exactly what I had in mind HS.

Re: Location request
Ought to be able to see Hadley North Tunnel if it was Ganwick, giner.
I can't dispute JASd17 and Hatfield Shed's analysis. It does look right for there, although I wouldn't be 100% certain as there isn't a great deal to confirm that, but at least I'm noticing nothing that makes that a wrong conclusion.

Re: Location request
The same as several others with my first thought of it being north of Brookmans Park station approaching Welham Green & Marshmoor s/box.

Re: Location request
There's a round chippings bin in the shot. They only appeared near Potters Bar/Greenwood/Brookmans Park?

Re: Location request
Would you happen to have another picture of the same collection? Something taken in a close place? Because the landscape behind the train looks quite generic, I tried entering the names of the aforementioned places on Google Maps and have gotten similar results, all of these options are realistic.
Re: Location request
Possibly to pin point the location even further to within maybe a couple of hundred yards of where the photograph was taken the name of the location was in the area called Bell Bar in the close neighbourhood of Welham Green. In earlier GNR days there was a signal box called Bell Bar that was at that location for around 10 years during the 1870s.
