This is one of the F10s ex Wimpy, and the H&B ex Kit Kat, the green
ones are ex Prime Pork. The observant will notice the Kit Kat van has
moved a long a lot in the workshop photo, which
is now over the page, so you will all have to look back, being a time lord
has it's good points.

Re: Daves C & W Works
I'm relieved to find that I'm not the only one daft enough to add extra planking to bring those incorrectly recessed panels to the same level as the framing!
I hope you have the strength to complete the task successfully.

Ditto, one was enough for me. The Fridge version was much better for converting/improving.

Re: Daves C & W Works
Atlantic & Mick, I have 5 in total to do, one of the F10s will be the later version without the roof hatches when downgraded.
I have also planked the ends and put the louvres in the correctish location, which don't show in the photo. I put the wrong vents on the Kit Kat van, I will keep a couple and replace the rest with the conical type, it will then look as if it's had some newer replacements fitted.
As mentioned over the page here are the pics of the NER van as far as it got at Christmas, as the dust shows on the side.

Thank you. I have two of the Hornby vans in stock to be worked on.
Please can I ask about the provenance of the G7 25 ton van?

Re: Daves C & W Works
Hi drmditch.
The G7 van is one of Dan's kits (D&S), he released some a couple of years ago, I got 2 and have nearly built one so far.
I am a gluten for punishment, I visited Goathland model railway show at the weekend, and got another Hornby H&B van
(Weetabix), it's a bit yellow. I also met Paul who models on RM web as "Worsdell forever", and saw his great little layout,
a very good little show well worth a visit and only £1 English pound to get in, and cakes on sale..............

Further work on the H&B vans.
For those interested the panels are in filled with 10 thou
and the longitudinal underframes are made from strips of
Evergreen 156 and the buffer beams are from Evergreen 146
fitted behind the vertical posts and faced with Evergreen 106
to bring flush with the planked ends. Archer rivets and some
plastic rod filed flat to one face for the hinges.

Putting me to shame. Mine have a 5 year head start (at least) and now yours are more advanced.

Hi Dave,
It was really good to meet up with you in person today at Thirsk show, and to see some of those wonderful models in the flesh. - For those who haven't seen them Dave's photos, good as they are really don't do just to the exquisite details on these models.

Thank you Rob, it was a pleasure meeting up after all this time, and seeing Chris's paintings.
You are far to generous in your comments about the models, to many mistakes in my eyes.
A great little show and I also met up with Scottie Dog of this parish and Martin with his amazing O gauge locos.

Re: Daves C & W Works
The 3 ex H&B refer vans are progressing well, on new under frames, with temp wheels as an order from Colin (Alan Gibson) for
wagon wheels has just arrived this this morning, so they can be fitted tonight. They have MJT W irons, all fixed not rocking,
Mr Franks buffers, with plastic packers, and vac pipes, the 4th wagon is catching up slowly. The NER refer is progressing very slowly
with the roof altered and the holes in the end filled.

Re: Daves C & W Works
On Friday I received a parcel......in it 5 lovely NER hoppers from those nice people at Slaters, it's nice to see them back on the market,
I'm glad I never got any from ebay. The pics show what you get.
The transfers are interesting you get 2 sets, with some blank plates, I was running short of these, they have not corrected the artwork
for the NER version, it should read the company name in full and not initials.
With laying my floor and other jobs around the house and going to Belgium I have not had a lot of time to progress the wagons, but all the rivets are on and they are progressing.

Interesting to read your posts on the Horny H&B vans. Nice, patient, modelling.
Do you have any background history on these vans? I've hunted around but can find very little on the web. Do you know if they lasted until BR days?
