Well....
If all the world and his wife decide to go to one place on the same day what do they expect?

They should have expected additional trains, but that, alas, is a thing of the past.

The guvnor would say "Call that a train?."
If is isn't a BR Mk1 coach with commonwealth bogies it ISN'T a proper railway coach.

If the board would be pleased to advance the necessary budget I can design and build yet more powerful locomotives and more space efficient rolling stock to enable longer and higher capacity trains to be operated.
And give the operating staff a good kicking until they refine the ticketing system to prevent selling more tickets than there is available train capacity. Mr Thompson can personally take on the footwork there.

The fact that they will stand empty and unused for most of the year will, of course, be the board's responsibility.Hatfield Shed wrote: ↑Thu Aug 30, 2018 2:10 pm If the board would be pleased to advance the necessary budget I can design and build yet more powerful locomotives and more space efficient rolling stock to enable longer and higher capacity trains to be operated.
And we have plenty of spare coal wagons during the summer months for the use of backpackers and colonials.....And give the operating staff a good kicking until they refine the ticketing system to prevent selling more tickets than there is available train capacity. Economics isn't called the dismal science for nothing is it? I read a very despondent study a couple of decades ago that proposed that at present technology level the only mechanical transport system capable of universal global deployment without creating expectations that could not be fulfilled was the bicycle.billbedford wrote: ↑Fri Aug 31, 2018 8:52 am ... that they will stand empty and unused for most of the year will, of course, be the board's responsibility.
