Re: Atlantic's works: Back to normal very soon?
Much obliged for the additional motivation. If only it were a matter of needing a motive, that would see me successfully convicted of the crime. I'm okay for means too. Unfortunately, it's opportunity that I need to work on....
P2 valve gear costs:
IF the additional etches happen, a full set of valve gear parts for both sides, requiring solder-assembly skills, should be less than £20 if I have my maths right so far. Most sets of any available valve gear will have to be reserved initially for use with the resin parts I've produced. That is because the economics of the exercise are "interestingly" balanced. For the number of sets of P2 valve gear that I have any current expectation of needing, enough at most to suit the resin parts so far cast, it is uneconomic to go so far as to redesign the source sheet for the majority of the valve gear parts, i.e. those will still have to come from the older A2 Pacific conversion etches. The new etches will simply add the missing parts. Continuing to use the A2 etches does however involve building up stock of A1/1 valve gear parts and various smoke deflectors, which come on the same sheet. Yet only if the demand for P2 parts soars to the level at which I have to cast more resin (and I suspect I would struggle to cope with that if it happens too soon), does the design of a full new sheet make economic sense!

She's currently in bits with a new body scheduled to be printed at some point as I feel I could do a better job of it now.

Will it be possible to fit the valve gear around the original hornby parts.
Also will I require replacement cylinders for my loco to complete the conversion

All designed to fit the Hornby chassis. New cylinders if required to look right....

Re: Atlantic's works: Back to normal very soon?
After conferring with our webmaster I've begun the process of removing the irritating Photobucket blackmail messages from this thread and replacing them with directly uploaded copies of the images that were supposed to be displayed. It takes time, not all of the original image files being in obvious places and many needing to be reduced in size before I can re-post them! I'm back to page 213 now, working back from latest entries....
Update - as from 6.47pm today, 22nd July 2017, I believe I have removed all of the annoying message displays over which I have control, hence I'm out of the "bucket". Now I just have the Imageshack years (the pages before 213) to put right....

Thank you for taking the time to repost these Graeme. Not a small job by any means!Atlantic 3279 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 18, 2017 8:52 pm After conferring with our webmaster I've begun the process of removing the irritating Photobucket blackmail messages from this thread and replacing them with directly uploaded copies of the images that were supposed to be displayed. Same thoughts from me. This Forum needs "like" etc buttons.

That's got to be a bit of a boring job, but I like going back looking at other peoples work and getting ideas. Thanks.

Re: Atlantic's works: Out of the bucket now...
Update - as from 6.47pm today, 22nd July 2017, I believe I have removed from this topic (and from the Bachmann O4 topic) all of the annoying, money-seeking, Photobucket "upgrade your account" message displays over which I have control, and I have reinsated the images that should instead have been showing on my pages 213 onwards, hence I'm out of the "bucket". Now I just have the Imageshack years (the pages before 213) to put right....

Re: Atlantic's works: Out of the bucket now...
Your revival of the photographs has prompted me to review your inspiring thread from the beginning!
Having reached Page 8, please could I ask if the re-cycled Bachmann motor/gear combination used has continued to be reliable?
I ask because I have several of the older split-chassis arrangements, and would like to utilise the motors if possible.

Re: Atlantic's works: Out of the bucket now...
Tricky question: I sold the P10 several years ago and have heard nothing of it since. Rather a pity, as hindsight tells me that the P10s , which if ever built would have been seen on Colwick - New England - March coal trains, would be just the job for a Grantham layout.

Could always build another one, Graeme, incorporating lessons learned in the years since?Atlantic 3279 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2017 11:26 pm Tricky question: I sold the P10 several years ago and have heard nothing of it since. Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive
I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

I'd be only too happy to do so, if somebody could just find me the time to fit in all of my intentions.

This should help, good luck, apparently it's temperamental.
