I am not a GW fan but I think that this is a good cause.

Also I would love to see one in the eye of Notwork Fail!

Alas the link doesn't work.

Greetings. I only heard about this at work yesterday and find it very difficult to believe that somebody would want to close it down. It should be saved. PLEASE resurrect the link so that I can add some weight to it.

First I've heard about it - there is a unique atmosphere about the running shed at Didcot - it's a timewarp with all the feel of a working shed. Suspect NR want the land to build their new signalling centre for the Thames Valley - is that the case, please?

The chairman's statement on the GWS society doesn't say that there is an immediate threat - simply that talks to buy the land outright have fallen through and that the lease arrangement continues as before. The problem with the current lease is that there is a 6 month notice clause. This is considered unacceptable for the Didcot operations (and I think we would all agree), but it has always been the case.

There may not be an 'immediate' threat, but, as is often the case, it may be a matter of waiting for the other foot to drop, so to speak. When negotiations fall through, you can bet that there'll be attempts to reopen them at some point.

If a working link to the petition is supplied, I'll sign it.

All you guys had to do was put in a search.
I found it, and to save everyone from looking and make it easier for all those who want to sign, here is the link:

BTW, I've already signed it about 2 minutes ago.
We have little enough heritage left as it is, and I don't want to see big business wipe out our history.

Go for it everyone. This petition definitely has my firm support.

So have I but such is the demand for improving the railway into Padd what with the Reading remodelling etc. I suspect that NR, an unloved crowd admittedly, will have a strong card if they want the land for a new signalling centre. Good luck to the GWS anyway
