Dave,

Very nice to see you and JW last weekend. I could have bored you further with SNCF diesels. It is remarkable how they relate to LNER Fruit vans!

I was wondering if a jig could be made for all that drilling on the Pulley wagon? As to resin, I am guessing the man is busy. But casting a bit of SNCF diesel. now there's an idea?

Photos can be provided, bien sur.

Mike, that list....you will be getting something this week, I understand the Coronation bits now, you should post a link on this side, very good modelling.
Jonathan, yes, but I can't think of anybody  .
John, it was good to meet up, a wonderful show as always, El Deputy Presidento and co did a good job as always. Your fruit wagon and Jonathans G7 were very good, SNCF diesels, never would have guessed how useful they would be. If you like SNCF have you seen La Bete Humaine a great 1938 film with lots of steam locos and a murder...and all set in France.

Quick update.....most of the bits are made and have been for a bit, the time consuming bit at the moment is making all the bits and loops for the hooks.
Monday took an hour the make 2......today 1hr to make 5, getting there. Still I've managed to attach a couple to some frame uprights, they look ok, might be worth it in the end.

Mike, your use of the shiny silver tape for the stainless steel trim is spot on. The original trim on 1729 is highly polished under the layers of paint applied to it over time. How they got the paint to stay on the stainless I know not.

Very impressed.

G'day Gents

Another way of obtaining silver, is the silver/aluminium backing used in nicotine patches (if your trying to give up smoking)

Also in most case's thick old 'Gloss' paint will stick to stainless steel/chrome plated steel.

Well I hope you all had a great Christmas and are having a good New Year.
With one thing and another I managed no progress over the hols, till I got back to work...then I discovered all the upright supports were very slightly different.... should have made a jig. So I a quick jig was made, and replacements built (a quick 2 lunchtimes) the old ones will now be taken off, and a lesson learnt. Replacements are in the bag.

Further very slow progress on the E15 mainly because I have added rivets to all the new up stands.
For those who have a rivet fetish rather than the normal ones, the first poor pic shows the
rear and front of an upright....don't get to excited.
All the old uprights have been removed and replaced with the new versions, one top beam added
(which sat level...amazing) strengthening plates added, rivets started on body and some handrails
fixed.

Whilst trawling through the net just before Christmas I came across Poppy's Woodtech who sell a
loco chassis building aid. This intrigued me, so after some deliberation I got one, it arrived
last week. I must say it is extremely well made and assembly is very straight forward, I don't
think you can assemble it out of square. Although for reasons beyond my control (I lost one of
the metal axle jig rods, when I dropped it leaving work) I have not used it yet in anger,
but I did put an A3 chassis in it over the weekend and found it was not as square as I thought,
so win win so far, I'm waiting for a replacement rod to come, they are very helpful people.
So far I can highly recommend it.

Just arrived courtesy of my friend Mike Trice some new 3D prints he's doing on Shapeways.

A selection of NER buffers including some self contained buffers with rubber springs for special wagons, these suit
my pulley wagon so thank you Mike for including those for me in the set. Also included are some late pattern buffers, mineral
wagon buffers with steps and standard buffers.

Some pics show what is included, they are very difficult to photograph, these buffers are exquisite and the photos do not do them justice.

Mike also does these LNER restaurant car vents...if only I had these before it would have saved me hours making mine.

The plastic spindle used on "Till receipt rolls", is almost the correct diameter to use to fill in the lower part of the boiler.

Was it a colossal amount of solvent that got spilled? If not I'm puzzled by your bad luck, in that it got both sides of the loco body.
