Pintsch Gas Lights

Post by Tranby1 »

I would very much appreciate if anybody could advise whether they are aware of the existence of any Pintsch gas lamps as fitted to carriages. Information is sought to help restore a carriage of pre LNER constintuent company. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated by the restoration team. :)

Many years ago, I read somewhere that during the Great War there was a campaign to get rid of Pintsch lights as that company supplied
the Germans with the poison gas which they were using against our armies on the Western Front. My maternal grandfather was a victim of this gas, but not too seriously affected, thank God.

Perhaps this is why they don't seem to be in existence now.
