Gresley coach numbers after Nationalisation

Post by Goathingham »

Hello all,
I have bought some Hornby Gresley teak coaches from Hatton's and will be repainting them to suit my 1958 period layout. Does anyone have a source for stock numbers I should use on them? e.g. EXXXXX?
Thanks,
Trevor

R4332 and R4333

They are the old style Hornby coaches which aren't models of anything and so you can't give them a true number. That's why people have been getting rid and buying the new ones, albeit a lot more expensive. The old style, however, are still made for the Railroad range.

have a look at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11370

Trev

I've just remembered. I've got a book that lists all the Hornby there has been so I could have a look there and see what numbers they put on the blood and custard/maroon equivalent.

Right Trevor, I've found the book, Ramsey's British Model Trains Catalogue

22357 is listed under several Hornby catalogue numbers as R435, R477, R1039, R4047, R4332 (Railroad)
their running numbers in BR red and cream are given as:-
E18276, E18299, E18301, E18236E, E18269E, E18170E, E18171E, E18281E, E18274E.
In BR maroon they are:-
E11000E, E11002E, E18207E, E11029E, E18249E, E18271E.

4237 is also listed under several Hornby catalogue numbers as R436, R478, R1039, R4333 (Railroad)
their running numbers in BR red and cream are given as:-
E10066, E10098, E10050E, E10051E, E10066E, E10097E.
in BR maroon they are:-
DB10074, E10058E, E10064E, E10065E, E10073E, E10076E, E10108E, E16769E.

I hope this answers your original question.
