Re: A4 Liveries
Happy New Year all.
Flogging an almost dead horse even further, I have some recollection that someone had posted earlier that ALL A4s had the valances/sideskirts removed quite early in WW2 but I can't locate this posting. However, in the previously quoted 'An A4 by Any Other Name' (which someone had discounted as being always correct) it says in Part 5 page 4, that between November 1941 and June 1942 21 were given 'this new' unlined Black livery and 19 had their valances removed at the same time.
Therefore by a process of elimination those that still HAD their valances at that same period seem to be 2510/Quicksilver; 2511/Silver King; 4483/Kingfisher; 4487/Sea Eagle; 4488/Union of South Africa; 4490/Empire of India; 4491/Commonwealth of Australia; 4462/Great Snipe (but this seems to have been renamed William Whitelaw in July 1941); 4463/Sparrow Hawk; 4465/Guillemot; 4466/Herring Gull (renamed Sir Ralph Wedgwood in January 1944); 4490/Gannet and 4901/Capercaille (which became Charles Newton in September 1942 and then SIR Charles Newton - no doubt after the touch on the shoulders by HM in June 1943).
Would be grateful if someone could wade through all this to confirm if correct regarding valances plus that all above had unlined Black livery and
L N E R on their tenders (ie not just N and E).
Still summer in the colonies so many hours of daylight to attend to 'projects'.

Re: A4 Liveries
Belatedly thanks Steve. Didn't follow up when you first sent me the link to the photo of Falcon but I think what I've done with my model is pretty close to this.
