A few FB friends have been hacked and have had some pretty nasty porn posted in their name.

Do NOT click on it or your FB profile will also be hacked and used to distribute crap.

Looks like the buggers are active so make sure your antivirus is up to date.

Some of the 'fun and entertaining' FB 'apps' also allow pr0n peddlers to access your FB account - they get in by using the 'permissions' you give to use said apps. FB is 'supposed' to check all apps using their platform, but, well, it would appear that they don't...

This is true, 65447, but I have friends all over the world so FB is also a great way to keep in touch. However, if you have friends who are on FB then they may well send you an infected email without their knowledge so the only way to avoid ALL viruses is never to go on the Interwebby thing. And where would that leave us?

Anyway, isn't our own wonderful Forum Social Media? We get together over a virtual cup of tea in our little bothy......

I just make sure I got good antivirus, not that there is any perfect solution.

I tend to limit my Facebook posts to friends, or maybe friends of friends, but I can specify on each message.

I don't use the "apps" because they just seem to be excuses to trawl through your i.d., friends email/birthday lists and other personal information. I did play one of the early games, but it was so blatantly fixed so that to progress in a meaningful way I had to buy Facebook Credits (whatever they are) that I gave up.

I know what you mean, SS, about the games.

I do play a couple of Word games and that's the lot. Most computer games bore me quickly anyway.....
