Re: My models (some LNER)
A small notice from me this time. Having got the bits together that I need for the W&U coaches I've made a small start on the bogie coach - in otherwords I've built the bogies and not much else. The L&Y beast is at a standstill until I finish off the tender and make a proper start on the loco. The dynamometer car is finished as far as I'm concerned - there were some levers and straps left to go on, but as these are hidden/obscured by the brake pipe run I shan't be bothering with them. Progress is slow all across the board as I'm trying to build 5 trams before a deadline I've set myself of June 13th - exhibition time - and real life.

Re: My models (some LNER)
What did you use for transfers on your dynamometer car...or did you not bother.
I'm still trying to find some.

Re: My models (some LNER)
I used HMRS transfers for the NER - sheet 18 - the spacing is a bit off but it did give me the full lettering and correct height numerals. I should have pictures of the 'finished' coach with appropriate motive power soon.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Been a long time in coming, and not been down to my old haunt to get proper photos done, but here you go. The 'Dynamometer Car' lettering is from the NER sheet, the rest is plain LNER sheet.
Photos taken using Tesco Hudl2, and not my usual cameraphone - that has been replaced and still not got used to new one enough to take pictures with any confidence.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Had a running day at Ruddington a couple of weeks back - took my bizarre locos down.
Had a question about the difference between a Gresley A1 and A3 - so touch a photo to show main differences visually.
Also had some fun with my brute - ran fine until it decided to start falling off the track.

Wisbech and Upwell carriage no 7
Howdy folks, I've just bitten off a bit more than I can chew with a D&S kit for the two W&U coaches - in particular I'm after any information regarding the interior partition between the first and third class sections for either the bogie coach or the four-wheelers nos 1, 2 or 5?

Progress so far on the W&U bogie coach - done before the heat turned up in Sheffield.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Some small progress on the pair - body handrails fitted to both, drop windows fitted to the four wheeler. Rooves fitted loose, to see how they fit.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Another one of my small updates - W&U coaches tested and couplings set for shuttle working at Ruddington on the MoD branch. Just need to get them finished.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Not LNER, but my latest project leading into an interpretation of the Baldwin GCR monster, aiming at a more American appearance compared to Mr Kings model. This is the proposed L&Y heavy freight locomotive of 1913, based on the drawing in the big black book "Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Locomotives".

Re: My models (some LNER)
Dropped a large boulder into the millpond that was my easing into building the GCR 2-10-2 - spent much of today fettling the basic loco and tender arrangements, including shortening the tender, making a new underframe for the tender and removing much of the extraneous fittings from the boiler and motion. Even allowing for the 1:87 scale instead of 1:76 (HO against OO), the Baldwin is massive compared to the L&Y 2-10-0. I've also run into the usual problem I have with my conversions and home-built stuff - buffer heights. I know the standard height is 3ft 6in above rail height, but I may have to do some creative thinking to disguise the lower height on my model as things stand at the moment, as it is coming out at 2ft 6in at the front and 3ft at the back.

Re: My models (some LNER)
Test running today for the GCR and L&YR heavy freight locos - with some frankly quite predictable results. The Baldwin now has the tender set to the longest distance between loco and tender. The Lanky just trundled round from the off with no problems. I should be having a running day down at the usual place soon so should have pictures of the pair and my other monstrosities to post soon after.
