Evening folks!

On Saturday, I attended the model event that was being hosted at the GCR. Ended up helping out on the Moorside Valley Railway layout for a bit, and then proceeded to spend some money! Purchases included two more Bachmann Emily coaches - brake and normal, more phoenix paints, and also two more Kirk teak kits - a CK and TK!

The two six wheelers are now in teak vice emerald green, and certainly look the part now! These two will join the other four (two of which are going to be redone eventually) in my set of six wheelers, but will be finished in LNER as opposed to GNR/ ECJS, hence the grey roofs and black solebars.

Also, the final bits of work were done on Walkden! This included painting of the reverser, cab insides - regulator, reverser stick, and steam brake handle, and also the fitting of vacuum pipes. Transfers have been ordered, and should be with me mid week, so once applied, the model will be virtually completed, bar a whistle, which is a pain to get hold of due to it being an SAR type one on the real engine... Any suggestions???

Evening All!

3155 Walkden WD75105 is now complete! The transfers turned up yesterday whilst I was out blitzing along the WCML behind Clan Line on her farewell tour, so only got round to doing them this morning. For my first time using waterslides, I don't think I did a bad job, especially with what I had space wise to work with (bufferbeam mainly being a problem) However, here's two shots of the finished article, showing off one side of it, and the second showing off the new whistle (an off cut from a pipe off of the GBL T9)

I don't wish to be overly critical,but you really need to remove the diagonal grab-rail and the additional [lower] set of steps from the saddle tank as these were LNER fitments,not found on the original Hunslet design..

Hi, I am aware that they need removing, however as I do not have the materials to hand to fabricate the correct set of steps from the running plate upwards, I'm quite content with it as it is..

I'm slightly puzzled by this,however, as you don't need to fabricate anything extra,the correct steps are already there, moulded on. All that needs doing is removing the LNER grab rail and the lower steps and filling the holes that are left and smoothing over.

Ahhh,I see now.. 'Walkden' has a different set of additional steps,- presumably these were added during preservation..

They were an addition from when it worked in europe These have now been added as I found suitable parts courtesy of a dapol van kit

Coupled up to her, is sister engine 3795, one of the unpreserved ones, which I'm finishing up in Oxford blue with red lining.

It's been a while since I last posted anything, mainly due to work and the Spa Valley taking up the majority of my free time currently!

Back in september I purchased, with a colleague from work, a bundled job lot of three items of rolling stock, two SR coal wagons (destined for my colleague) and a Slaters NER Birdcage brakevan.

The brakevan just needs couplings added to it - somehow without damaging the hook drawbar on the inside of the underframe - and it'll be ready for use! Certainly is a nice bit of kit, and well built and painted.

Other than this, it's been rather quiet from me modelling wise, with the exception of another teak coach being assembled from Ian Kirks range, a CK, which will possibly be finished in GNR to match 42440 and 90. Progress on the Blue bucket from July has been slow, with some of the lining needing redoing on the tank, and the cabs finishing off. The name and works plates have been delivered courtesy of Narrow Planet, and all that needs adding detail wise now, is Vacuum pipes, and a new whistle as the hooter fell off last month.

LNER goods brake vans were finished in brown-red oxide, regardless of whether fitted or not. Model manufacturers who have in the past marketed mass produced models of so called LNER brake vans in erroneous grey livery have much to answer for.

Evening all!

I've been (slighty) busy this past month...

Warley happened, and I managed to pick up some lovely but well used metal built LCDR six wheelers and Grande Vitesse luggage van, and an SECR bogie CL for a total of £58, quite a bargain I guess given that they had a fair bit of interest when I nabbed them from one of the stands. As last friday was payday for me, I decided to treat myself to Hornbys fabulous D16/3. I was originally going to get the Early crest one, but settled for the LNER one on the basis of possibly getting the EC one when the Adams Radials turn up (also an early crest one for me) with the intent of using the two EC locos on a maroon suburban set mixed of LMS and LNER (Gresley and Thompson) coaches... I also picked up a Class 73 (Hornby) with the intent of putting it into my employers company colours of Southern two tone green and white, as 73202 Graham Stenning (real loco will be named this officially as of 11/12/15) as a memorial to my former line manager, even though I was planning to do this repaint since last October! I've also managed to acquire a trio of Bachmann's thomas range branchline coaches, however these won't be repainted until I acquire a brake coach

Hi all, firstly, a very belated Happy New Year!

Since christmas I've been not that busy on models, however, after six months of holding off on completion, I've finished the Oxford Blue Bucket, No.3795, which I have named Fleur, after a close friend of mine.

Last weekend, I decided to add to my small fleet of LNER freight set, and so, being the mad person I am, painted an Mainline Railways PO wagon and a Parkside Dundas RCH 5plank wagon in LNER Freight grey, and decorated them, albeit unprototypically to LNER freight stock, as a Loco Sand wagon (after doing this, I found that those wagons were actually small hooded wagons) and a standard open wagon that was based at Fletton (probably, who knows)

This is the setup so far, and whilst it has recently come to light that the van at the back has slight innacuracies, it serves it's purpose well as a representation for a pres line...

Evening all!

A year or so ago, I managed to purchase a fully built Ratio GWR 4 wheel coach off of Ebay. It was fully painted in what I can assume was to be GWR plain brown. I took advantage of this paint job, by applying the theory that it was an ex ECJS coach which was Brown anyway, and as such, applied ECJS transfers to it... I am now however, having visited the KESR and sampled their ex GER 6 wheeler, which has recently been outshopped in LNER brown, tempted to re-brand it into LNER, at the cost of having to purchase another GNR/ ECJS transfer sheet to make up for the loss of the transfers used on the coach. Recently however, the coach hasn't seen use as it caused me nightmares with derailing, however, I found a spare set of 14.4mm Dia wheels and fitted these to the coach lastnight, and the result is a much better runner (I hope)

Been a while, not a great deal has been done in recent months, only really purchases, and the odd paintwork touch up on certain stock.

I managed to purchase a Ratio 4 wheeler on the cheap just after Easter, and having had some sides already teaked up, set about putting it together, as per the norm. Unsure of what to finish it as company wise, however as I've got three Bachmann Thomas 4 wheelers, and two more additional six wheelers, I think it may go more of a pre grouping southern (LSWR) or even a northern region company. Whilst at Ally Pally back in March, I stumbled across an absolute steal of a deal! A kit built L&YR Atlantic for £25! Runs an absolute dream!! Just got to get some couplings fitted to the front at some point. Some stuff that I've repainted over the recent months have finally recieved varnish. The first were Austerity 3795 Fleur, and Maunsell 350HP shunter No.3, and some of the LNER pre grouping wagons.

Hi all!

I've recently got the OO9 bug, and, having visited the FR/WHR over the past two days, I left yesterday with three of the Parkside Dundas kits from the shop at Porthmadog. I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to 'teak' these, and finish the loco that I've got in GER blue, with the setup for an eventual layout having a OO station connected to the OO9 platform, with a heavy LNER/ Great Eastern vibe. The first coach to be completed out of the three was a freelance four wheel two compartment 3rd. The other two kits, are a freelance two compartment planked coach (likely to be finished as a 3rd too) and a Vintage passenger brake van. These three, along with two 3D printed vehicles from shapeways will form the main running set for the layout.

Hopefully some more progress will appear before the weekend is over!
