I'll add my praise for the teak. It looks very convincing in that photo.

Well thank you Greame.
Back to steel carriers, I've added some truss side supports to the queen posts and added the door stop plates to the insides, just needs the brake levers makeing and it's ready for a coat of paint.

Back orf me hols in sunny Whitby (I did enjoy the coast to coast tractors tearing up the beach) and other points south, I've managed to do a bit more.
Kirk Boplate is complete just needs painting to be finished and transfers completed.
LNER Boplate painting started and some transfers added.
51L NER plate wagon being painted and decals added, some weathering started.
From last October this Parkside Lowfit has had all the underside bits added and painted, transfers nearly completed.

Hands up who noticed I had made the Kirk Boplate a Boplate E instead of a B.
Now corrected and fully painted just needs a wash of dirt and it's finished.
51L Plate wagon is finished....yes I know another one, must get a grip of myself.

Work keep getting in the way at the moment, but ha ho it's only for the money....
Well I've been busy building another plate wagon, I will soon have enough for a dinner service. This a NER Dia B14 bogie plate wagon.
The GA drawing is slightly different to the picture in Vol 2 LNER wagons, the buffers on the GA are very close to Lanarkshire Models B036 type, the head is to big, and needs reducing to 1'-1/4" approx ( the drawing is difficult to read on this bit and it could be 1,1/4") I have not reduced the heads on mine yet and I may not. The other difference is a 4 spoke brake wheel on the GA, and a 6 spoke on the pic, all very minor stuff. Anyway here are a couple of pics so far.

Well Atlantic that is the question... I would say 7 or 8, that is if you want the saucer as well.
The B14 progresses well here a some progress shots.
The queen posts are Evergreen plastic rod drilled down the centre to take a length of .45 n/s rod
as reinforcing, this is drilled into the I beam web and glued. The retaining nuts are represented
with thicker plastic rod drilled in the end to fit over the cut down reinforcing rod, then drilled
crossways to take the truss rod. The truss rods are .6 outside and .5 dia inside. All a bit time
consuming but seems to work and they have not fallen off yet, The very poor pics show what I mean.
Door hinges have been fitted and I'm quite pleased with it so far.
The bogies are not correct if you want to be pedantic, they are old Ratio ones I put under an old Triang
bogie bolster in the 60's when I discovered peco track and swapped from Trix 3 rail track, been in the
wheel box since I scrapped the wagon many years ago. Took the Ratio plastic wheels out, fitted brass
bearings and Gibson wheels.

Well I've had a riveting time these last few days as you can see by all the little black dots. Now I did not think I was a rivet counter but when you start applying these little buggers and you have a GA drawing, it's hard not to become one as the pattens of rivets are quite distinctive. They are a mixture of Archer ar88014 and 15 rivets. I've had the sheet for sometime but this is the first time I've used them, I would really recommend them.
The brake rigging has been started (what a faff), I also decided to use the brake wheel shown in the photo rather than the 4 spoke on the GA, it looks a bit nicer. Nearly finished just needs some more rivets and a few more bits, and Bobs your mother as they say in France.

Here are some poor update pics, got a coat of primer on which shows up the mistakes and areas to fill, now all the rivets are on.
There are a lot of things happening in the floor over the bogies that you would not normally see in line side pics of wagons, 2 oil pipes, a oil pot and a bogie pivot inspection plate, I have no idea why some of the cross battens have visible fixing holes and the others do not. Still makes for an interesting model.

The battens with the fixing holes are spread over the bogie area at each end. Almost certainly these places are where the tie-down/securing chains or shackles are attached, with options to provide for slightly shorter or longer loads, whilst the remainder merely provided even support along the length of the load.
