Damn fine bit of work there Dave. I only have Isinglass and Comet roof details. Yours is much more elaborate. Can I ask how you found this and if it applies to the 1928 sets?

Yes my roof layout is for a 1928 D10C.

I spent a lot of time looking at drawings for the D10C at the NRM, then worked out the pipe runs from all the plans, sections and kitchen layouts.
Mike Trice was also involved and he beat me to producing a drawing of the 2 types of roof layout, 1928 and 1932. His drawing can be found on the last page (4) on "Further D10C Restaurant car question" on this site way back in April 2012.

Well time flys, I've had to concentrate getting my allotment in order after helping the kids with DIY, a bit of fun with a flame gun thingy and trying out my new tiller....boys toys etc, but I've also managed to fit in a couple of model shows, a trip on the NYMR, and several research trips to Search Engine.
I got this venerable Ian Kirk LNER Bobplate kit out of long term storage (found in the loft) and thought I would give it a go, I built one years ago when they first came out but can I find it in my stock boxes...no, I've no idea where that's gone. You don't seem to see them very often for sale, anyone got one they don't want ?.
Pics are self explanatory really, but I've scribed the planks to the floor and sides, added internal end brackets, stanchions between the doors with Evergreen channel, the end ones should have been replaced as well as they (I think) are hollow SHS's, the internal door scribing is incorrect and needs altering as it does not take into account the SHS, buffers are Lanarkshire Model ones. Started to build up the truss rodding from .7 brass wire slotted onto drilled out 3/64" Evergreen rod, 4 rings from thin ns wire and door bangers added. Just finish orf the other side trussing and brake levers to add and it can be painted.

A timely post on building the Bo-plate! I picked up four of these kits at our local model railway show on Sunday. They were just putting out a load of plastic wagon and coach kits when I was passing by and I spotted them. I had been looking for one of them for some time and ended up with more than I bargained for! Bonus was I paid next to nothing for them!! I feel a steel train coming on!!!

I was pondering how to build the truss rodding etc., but you have solved my dilemma. Well done that man! Thank you.

This is how I made my truss if anybody is interested.
The brass bits are from .8 rod, in 3 sections, a straight central piece and 2 bent ends, the end that fits into the plastic spigot was bent over size and cut back so the bend started as it came out of the spigot. The plastic spigot was made from Evergreen rod 211 (.040 dia) drilled down the centre with a 0.6 drill for 3.5mm (this gives a starting hole for the next one) then drilled with a 0.9 drill to open it out for the brass rod, make a mark 1.5mm in from the end on the top of this and drill throught the wall (but not all the way through) to form the hole for the vertical rod. Cut carefully with a sharp new blade in a rolling action to 3mm length, glue in the vertical .8 brass rod cut to length (including depth of hole in solebar) mine is 5mm exposed rod, push fit all together and glue inplace....easy.
I have just made the outside trusses but I think the photo in the blue wagon book might show a central one but there could be another hidden, can anybody confirm. The brake rod in the pics just clears the central rod and by shear fluke mine does.

Since the pictures I have added the turnbuckle arrangement to each horizontal rod (centrally), these were cut from a MJT brass turnbuckle etch.

Truss rodding is looking good. Hope mine will match your efforts. Building a couple of Cambrian LNER "Quints" at the moment. I now feel a Bo-plate (or two) coming on now! Steel train is on it's way!!

I am going to add 2 middle trusses as after study I am certain they had 4.

My aim is a steel train too, I have just taken delivery of 4 Cambrian Quint D's ordered when we were at Wakefield, plus I got a David Geen NER dia E18 plate wagon there.
One of the Quint's I will build as the Boplate version.......visions of happy days in Hartlepool and Q6's.

I've added the extra internal truss rodding to the Boplate, the eagle eyed will notice the plastic spigots on the outside truss are a bit distorted due to the heat of the soldering iron fixing the turnbuckle. I think I will redo them. I've started to redo the door bangers in scrap brass, I decided that the white metal ones were a bit thick. I've also changed the wheels to Gibson split spoke type.
To go with the Boplate I've just made a 51L NER Dia B12 Plate Wagon, almost complete just another buffer to add.

Why I called it a Bobplate in the earlier post I shall never know, put it down to drugs and alcohol............

The open wagon is now complete all underpinnings added and painted, wow it joins a small band of completed items.

The 51L NER B12 plate wagon has been primed and had a coat of wagon grey and black applied.
Then I started this little one, a LNER 40ton bogie plate wagon from a Cambrian LNER Quint kit, it's had a new floor with scribed planking to replace the original floor with it's bolster positions, the buffers have been removed and Lanarkshire Models & Supplies LNER replacement buffers will be fitted, 1 has been, these are wonderful castings.
So a trio of plate wagons are rolling through at the moment, the Boplate just needs brake levers fitting and that can start to be painted......plus some more lining has been added to the D10C, the end of lining is in sight...yeha.

LNER 40T Bogie Plate Wagon is complete and a start has been made on painting, as I don't have a pic of the internals I've fixed the plate battens to match other kits.

The pigeon coop (D120) has had the roof fixed and the body step boards added, these are from 3 x 1 brass angle fixed upside down as the step has no upstand, ns square bar was soldered to the upstand to match the fixing holes on the model and the lot super glued in place. So it is now complete and finished, thank you 65447 for giving me the kit.
