Mick, you are now THE expert on how to do the A2/1 conversion. Nice looking result. Darned Cartazzi wheels......
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Pain in the proverbial thing!!!
That is my last A2/1 but a simple conversion. A2/3 any time in preference for me!.

Very pleased indeed with that Mick - lovely detail and finish. I am in awe again
Actually quite a handsome loco and along with its fellow Thompson Pacifics, it makes a really interesting collection.
Thanks for posting the pics.

That looks really good. I've a pdk Duke of Rothsay on the works at the moment. Bachmann's cartazzi is poor but the rest of the loco looks really great!!!!!!!!!
Mine will take ages to finish too!

Another fantastic conversion there Mick, even if it is of a Thompson Pacific!

Re: Micks 4mm LNER Models
Hello Mick, wonderful thread, I’ve read through it all to date, some beautiful models, thank you for posting!
With apologies for going back rather far, may I please ask about what I believe is an LNER Inspection Saloon that crops up behind your D20 towards the foot of page 11 of this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1624&start=150
(I would have posted the pic but I don;t currently have hosting capability)
I realise it’s from rather a while ago (the post showing the Saloon is dated Sept 04 2010!) but I wondered if you could tell me whether that carriage was from a kit and if so which one? I wondered if it was converted from a kit of a revenue earning coach or was it actually a kit of the Inspection vehicle? I’d very much like to build one myself …
Thanks in advance, Chas

Lovely work as always Mick
As well as the dynamometer car you will also recognise more of your handiwork with Papyrus alongside Flying Scotsman in my LNER speed record cabinet.
If anyone knows that I have missed any of the landmark record holders please let me know, but as far as I am aware the records were:
Pre-war:
Flying Scotsman - 100mph
Papyrus - 108mph
Silver Link - 113mph
Mallard - 126mph
Post-war:
Sir Nigel Gresley - 112mph

What about Silver Fox and the fastest revenue earning train (112 mph?).
