NER Frame colours

Am I right in thinking that the NER's later "Goods Loco Black" livery had black frames?

Or did they continue with the dark red/maroon ("Engine Red" I think they called it) that were used on the Worsdell era green locos?

Checking Hoole's Illustrated History of NER Locos, he suggests that from 1894 onwards, goods locos are have black frames, including outside.

I thought I'd checked Hoole - I was probably looking a little later at the black livery (1905 iirc).

This is for the 1001. A two-tone green livery (ie. as preserved) would look great, but my painting isn't up to it, so it is going all black...
