Re: Engineer Drawing of No1 on ebay
blimey Mike you think I understand how ebay works???????
I only joined last week, and still have little or no understanding of why and how it works, so I missed it by not making a 3rd higher bid when I went
out two hours before the auction ended. So I cannot provide the link I am afraid,
A similar drawing was there before Christmas, but at the time I had other things to do.
The drawing is from The Engineer in 1871, and I have a copy of the second part of the series, which is how I was able to draw a tender type for the GNRS book, so I really wanted this, since a copy does not exist in the British Library Newspaper collection, some bugger nicked it years ago.

If you had put a bid on you should have got an email confirmation and/or possibly an email that you had been outbid or lost the auction. This email would have included a link to the original listing.

Re: Engineer Drawing of No1 on ebay
Not certain if this helps or not but the British Library list what looks an almost identical print in their scanned images collection:
http://imagesonline.bl.uk/index.php?ser ... q=%2321516
http://imagesonline.bl.uk/index.php?ser ... q=%2321517
Further investigation suggests that registering for personal use and performing a download costs in this instance £7.50 per drawing. Might just have to do that myself.
Hope it helps.

Re: Engineer Drawing of No1 on ebay
Thanks Mike, that might well solve it.
Since the Newspaper Library moved to Boston Spa, I have not actually been to sort it out, but when it was near Hendon, the copy of the engineer I saw did not have a copy hence my interest.
Many might not know that No 1 was originally built about 8 inches shorter overall than it is now, and this is the only drawing of that I know.
Thanks again, will get that looked at and sorted.

Just downloaded both images. Superb quality.
It looks to be a similar tender to that shown in "An Illustrated History of M&GNJR Locomotives" by Ronald H Clark (page 87).

I have not yet checked my copy of that, however, those tenders were transferred much after No 1 was built.
However there is no drawing of this tender in the R list.
