The ER Britannias started in East Anglia, concentrating on the Liverpool St-Norwich route, with 23 shared between Stratford and Norwich. The WR had 15, originally on Paddington-West Country and -Cardiff services but later concentrated on the latter, with all 15 at Canton. The LMR had 10, shared between Holyhead and Longsight, the ScR 5 at Polmadie and the Southern 2 at Stewarts Lane, where they were regulars on the "Golden Arrow".
On the ER March got some from 11/1960 and Immingham a month later (though March and other East Anglian sheds temporarily got a few in 1958). This made Britannias a regular sight at Kings Cross. The ER lost its allocation 3 years later, when all 55 were on the LMR. Here they all remained until the end of steam, though for a few months some were at what I would regard as WR sheds - Oxley and Banbury. Carlisle became the last stronghold of the class, especially Kingmoor, though even Canal, as well as Upperby, had a couple for a few months.

We're drifting a bit OT, but don't forget that 70044/53 & 54 were Holbeck stalwarts (until the A3's arrived?).
Norwich (March?) also had a daily Britannia working to York.
Sorry to stay briefly OT, but just wanted to say thanks to Kudu and yourself for the info. on Britannias. By 1958, young ladies had taken the lion's share of my leisure pursuits.
The two Firths arrived at Holbeck from Polmadie in 9/1958 and were joined by 70044 from Longsight 2 months later. They stayed less than 4 years, moving to Longsight in 8/1962. Holbeck also had 70016 on its books from new in 6/1951, when there were only 20 Britannias in service, until 3/1952. 70030 also seems to have been briefly loaned from Longsight in 1/1953.
Sorry, I don't have details of A3 allocations.
Could they fit on any of Holbeck's turntables, I wonder, or were they confined to the yard, like the A3s?
