Two photos of the new Thameslink stock I saw today at Mannheim (sorry about the quality). There was a full coach set (I think 3 or 4 coaches) between two hefty RailAdventure luggage vans with a DB loco on the front end - direction North. The coach seats were wrapped in polythene. Since they are apparently being built in Siemens Krefeld, I wonder why they were so far south. Road tests?

Re: New Siemens Thameslink Stock?
December's Railways Illustrated has a picture of a three cars of 700 stock at Innotrans (numbered 700001 but actually from 700004 apparently).
Could it be these returning after display?
I'll leave you to work out German geography to see if that fits.

These pictures have been made by me.
The German forum Drehscheibe online has more information about the Thameslink's journey to south Germany, there have been dynamic tests with the train. That's why there are so many test vehicles attached to it.
Link to the thread which also contains very good pictures: http://www.drehscheibe-online.de/foren/ ... ?4,7186822

Re: New Siemens Thameslink Stock?
They are really good pictures One point I suspect the extra vehicles are to provide brake force as the rusty discs suggest the brakes are not working on the new Thameslink vehicles.
Re: New Siemens Thameslink Stock?
Thanks Felix - that clears up the mystery. The pictures on Drehscheibe show the opposite side of the train, taken from Platform 6. Mine are from Platform 5. Unfortunately I had no time to walk down the platform and see the front end as my train was due.
