Early in the new year I hope to have my NBR BG ready for painting and I just wanted to try to confirm what livery it would have been in under the LNER in the 20's and 30's my gut feeling is LNER teak brown paint like NPCS but am I right or were they varnished teak or scumbled teak? If the latter were they also lined?
Many thanks for any assistance.

The NBR livery was crimson lake, so the would not have been varnished teak. Those in front line service that were repainted before 1928 would have been scumbled, and when repainted after 1928 would have been plain coach brown. Older stock was probably plain brown from the grouping.

Thanks Bill,
If scumbled would they have been lined too? - just considering options.
