Scottiedog you can hi-jack as much as you want, I'm not precious about this thread....you learn a lot more that way.

Thank you for your very kind offer of compost ;) for the interior but I think I will decline.

Hope to make it to monkey land on the Sunday, looking forward to meeting up with you all.

D120 is progressing well.
Roof vents (MJT) fitted to roof, handrails being fitted, those on a slant are not fixed yet, just been bent to shape, ends being detailed up, belt fitted to dynamo from scrap etch and vac pipe fitted to underside, I don't know if it is correct as I don't have a underframe GA, but it will be somewhere near. Brass guards ducket (MJT) made and ready to fit.

D120 is now primed and ready for teak finish to be applied.

NER quad is progressing, the deck is not finished yet, it's just started to be painted, and will be a mixture of old and repaired planks.

Quint D is having it's transfers applied and needs the base of the bolsters finishing, I lost one of the stanchions, and had make one (the white one), all are now pinned to the bolsters for strength.
The 'D' loops are from ns wire and the small loops if you can see them are 5 amp fuse wire, just need chains and shackles. This wagon will be finished as a newly built one so the clean appearence.

Both are painted with Precision LNER freight grey with the wood a mixture of acrylics, Vallejo greys and browns on a base coat of Miniature paints pale flesh.

Whilst looking through my old camera's memory card I found these, from a few weeks ago but I thought what the hell.

MJT brass ducket fitted with some 5th plastic around the openings to represent beading as the one in the kit had it, and some
other brass bits added. Things have moved on since.

The D120 was primed and has now had a base coat of Tamiya color (their spelling not mine) TS-46 light sand sprayed on as a base coat to the teak,
and not to be out done a 51L NER B15 2 plank open has just been finished.....a first I think...just in time for Scotlands independance. A great little kit, painted in enamels with metal cote axlebox's to simulate oil and weathered with acrylics
I must finish more.

Did you have any trouble getting the axles square on that NB open, Dave? On one of mine I found that one casting must have shrunk much more than the other and you couldn't get them parallel. I ended up cutting the W irons off one end and putting a rocker or spring unit on.

Jonathan, no in a word....it was an old kit I've had for a number of years so could have had better QC.

I glued the axle/w irons in place with a liquid metal glue to see if it works (always willing to try somthing new) and as I did that I had the wheels in place, all held with hair grips as it set and after a few mins I tested it gingerly (can I say that) on some track to see if it ran ok .....which of course it did, then left it to cure fully. I can't remember what the stuff is called now but it's black in colour and I'm sure it came from Halfords. Build several wagons using it for the w irons only as you can line everything up easily without any roasted fingers.

Hope that helps.

Independance for Yorkshire.

Ah, were your W irons separate? Mine were cast into the solebars.

Gents,

I can feel an 'LNER model wagon conference' coming on. York station bar as a starting venue?

Brilliant idea John....can we also talk about carriages and women for part of the time.
When? email me and we can arrange.

ps. I don't think I can make the meeting on the GC, so it would be good to catch up.

Might be interesting. Would need ample notice so as get the cheapest railway ticket!
(If my modelling is of adequate standard of course!)

I'd be up for that. Will it be an official LNER Society event with published Proceedings? Either way, count me in.

G'day all

York is a bit far for this southern softie.
We don't have bars in stations here.
I might well have a solo meeting in the pub next to Reigate Station. It is called "Prince of Wales" and has a pic of a Director on the pub sign. Perhaps they'll change it when the newbuild P2 is completed.

I was just thinking of an informal chat, all welcome.

The tricky part will be selecting a day when we are not busy.

I am at Shipley this weekend, possibly at Halifax show, with a session at the NRM next Monday.
