New Build, which would you rather
Simple enough, which would you rather:
Replica of a late production A3 pacific, or...
Replica Gresley A1 with reduced height boiler mountins & cab, long travel valvegear and 180psi boiler?

Re: New Build, which would you rather
Why vote when you've chosen the only candidates? Why not have a frothing session over everything and only then a meaningless vote?
For me it would have to be a Stirling 7ft 6in single.
or a Gresley W1
or a Thompson Q1
or a U1
or a .............
ad infitinum ad nauseam

Morning
How about somthing less obvious, say a C12 or an N1. If it has to be somthing big a B16/1.

How about something completely different and a permanent reminder of what was a great but greatly neglected railway company. My suggestion a Hull & Barnsley Railway C Class (LNER J23) 0-6-0. Just imagine one working on the NYMR.

Nice to see original a1 leading the way. Often thought it map a pity Great Northern wasn't preserved as she was.

Keeping it simple.
Neither
Re: New Build, which would you rather
Frankly, I'd want Humorist. Double chimney and full size deflectors plus GNR eight wheel tender. Easily the best looking of the A3s with the stovepipe chimney too.
Still working on mine, waiting on washout plugs before finishing her off as no.97.

Or an alternative vote to see whether we think pointless frothing has any place other than on R*W*b?

Re: New Build, which would you rather
interesting, one more vote for an original A1 than for an A3. Would be interesting to see what a 180psi boilred pacific with long travel valve gear could do on the mainline!
