Further information may be forthcoming from Chris Nettleton of the Gresley Society who are in the process of restoring vehicle 1852 to 1938 condition.

I'm envolved with the plan to restore the vehicle. Hence the request.

Here is a closer view of the leading Brake Van (BV to the LNER for Brake Van Vestibuled):

Is this a Diag 45 or a different type?

Having had a look around the answer to your question, about the all-steel BG on the south end of the "Flying Scotsman" for nearly ten years (and a good many other ECML expresses in LNER and BR days) may be found in the following books and website:

- Gresley's Coaches, Michael Harris, 1973
- LNER Carriages, Michael Harris, repr.1995 and 2011
- LNER Standard Gresley Carriages, Michael Harris, 1998
- LNER Passenger Trains and Formations, Steve Banks and Clive Carter, 2013
- A thread about this BG in: www.steve-banks.org
