Re: Resin Tender tops
My acquaintance reports more success lately with that Easyflo95 than he had initially. Equal parts and a full minute of thorough mixing seem to be the key he says.

Re: Resin Tender tops
New resin arrived in post today, will have a trial cast either later on this afternoon or tomorrow
Part 2/2 has also had a step forward, which will also make 2/3 easier I hope, will let you know how all goes

Re: Resin Tender tops & Experiments in casting...
Will post pics later when I have uploaded them from camera, for now a little update
Back to square one, new resin no good for the body of the tender, I used Mould Craft A2000L Excellent to mix, nice smooth & flowed well into mould, pot time claimed of 7-8mins but I found nearer 5. De-mould claimed in about 30mins which was about correct. For simple flat casting it was great, came to de-mould the tender and disaster, its way to brittle, I have tried twice, second attempt slightly better as de-moulded a little earlier but still broke the casting. So back I go looking for another sample resin to trial, I will not be defeeted!!

Brian
I'm a bit confused - you say phase 2/2 is a flat back corridor and 2/3 is a flat back corridor with beading. I thought all the flat back corridor tenders were 1928 tenders and had beading. So I don't understand what a flat back corridor tender would be without beading, ie 2/2?
Phase 1 - the top in your photos is a streamlined n/c tender. Is one of the above meant to be what is known as a new type n/c (which had beading) as fitted to most of the A3s that had a n/c tender?

Re: Resin Tender tops
David, nothing of worth to share I'm afraid, time and funds are short of at the moment, I am busy getting the hotel I work in ready for the season
Woodcock, not sure I can offer further info, I am no tender expert but am trying to produce items that Hornby have made and from advice from my mentor on here, Graeme

Re: Resin Tender tops
Thanks Brian.
Re: Resin Tender tops
Brian, did you get any further with this? I am contemplating doing my own resin casts for tenders such as the 1928 and 1935 corridor types which are proving difficult to source.

Re: Resin Tender tops
You crack on, not had the time to progress or likely to for the immediate future with huge up heavals in the house in the next month or so
Not sure what Graeme did, he was looking at it
I did do the curved back (35?) but made a mistake so it wasnt much use
I might return to it at some point but as I said not for awhile
