Going looking for information before asking a question, what a quaint idea. It'll never catch on :D

Interesting to see that Peters Spares have listed several K3 loco and tender bodies on eBay today.

I wonder if they are freeing up chassis (which they will list at a later date) in anticipation of demand for these with the impending GBL K3?

Clearly sometimes it is possible to break for spares and achieve a better price than selling a complete model.

Make more money ?? At their prices you are probably right Jim !!! Tenders arent much use without the chassis, perhaps they are going to try and sell them on their own too

They are always dearer on Hornby spares than EKM as well, be warned!!

I wonder how much Bachmann charge for a K3 chassis ??

I have complete bodies and tenders for a apple Green A2 and a Black K3 at the moment, just need chassis's if anybody has any spare ? :D :D

G'day all
South Eastern Finecast do chassis for both the A2 and K3. They are not cheap, but good quality.

EKModels do Bachmann V2 tender bodies cheaply. I don't know of the accuracy of the model.

I was lucky, a few couple of years ago, I picked up a DJH Raven A2 (inc wheels), a new SEF K3 (with etched cab etc, inc chassis & wheels), and a separate K3 loco & tender chassis for £140. The Raven A2's go for more than that, so I got the K3 plus chassis for nothing. I wish I could find bargains like that more frequently.

G'day again

Battle of Britain loco Winston Churchill was built before Nationalisation so would have been 21C151 in SR days, and 34051 under BR.

As Mr Bulleid was weaned on the LNER I dare say that the forthcoming GBLM Battle of Britain may interest some - I'm wondering which version they will crib? Cheap enough to use the body to create an original Merchant Navy methinks?

Well I couldn't find any K3 loco bodies on PS when I looked, but following my recent moaning about lack of tenders with stepped-out copings, a tenner apiece for two of those seemed a good deal. One may get hacked into the stepped-out copings version of the 3500 gallon tender, then who knows what I might do with it / them.......

Now was it unreasonable of me to expect the K3 bodies to show up on the actual Peter's Spares website? They didn't appear on my magic box even though Google returned results suggesting they were there. They do however appear in full if I search for ebay results. More electronic garbage at work.......

Hi everyone, Peter here from Peters Spares Model Railways Ltd, I would just like to clarify the messages re Bachmann bodies. We have had a large amount of new bodies into stock - we are not splitting or scrapping locos as this is not cost effective, this leads me on to a comment re making more money a K3 is over £106 RRP if a body is sold at £25 the tender top at £10 and the base at £10 this leaves the chassis at £61.00 and most people will not pay this (and that is all just to get the RRP back - not the time to scrap the locos or to list and photo all the parts).

What we have managed to get may be a one off and never happen again or we may continue to get them. So I would suggest grabbing what you can while you can. We do list the items on our web site under Bachmann Spares or via our eBay shop, there is a time delay for the web site to load on an evening to refresh stocks and listings.

Thanks Peter
