Reminds me of the occasion last summer when an unsuccessful attempt was made to get a class 67, attached to an East Coast 91 set for the diversion through Lincoln, to work.
When we joined the next, overcrowded, HST the man sitting opposite said to his wife "the continent could show these people a thing or two".
Leaving aside that the UK is also part of the European continent, I wondered to myself which part of the "continent" would provide advice.
Obviously not Spain, who built the loco.
Nor Germany, the state railway of which owned it.
But decided to leave it.

Same thing happened at Newcastle Central circa 1967 when they tried to run Clun Castle through but couldn't due to gauging problems.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
