Old Railway Button ID help?

Post by Domino »

Hi there, someone on another forum I visit recently came across what appears to be an old railway button whilst out metal detecting, after a bit of searching the closest I could get to a match is possibly a Malton & Driffield Railway button, but we aren't 100% sure.

It was found in north east, uk which leads me to think Malton & Driffield is the most likely bet.

On the button it says:

M&D
M.S

Can anyone confirm this for me and if possible do you know what M.S stands for too?

Many Thanks
Dan

An alternative is Maidstone and District Motor Services - a bus operator for whom I had the delights of being a conductor one summer (1970)
