Back in the 1880s in South Africa at a railway station called Uitenhage there worked a Baboon named Jack who was the railway stations signalman!. Jack not only operated the signalling equipment but also kept the station garden clean & tidy and collected the occasional passenger's ticket arriving at the station although it is not recoreded if Jack answered the telephone?.
The other person at the station a porter known as 'Jumper' said that Jack was a good worker but he made a lousy mug of tea!!.
