Re patriated A4s

Would the two A4s have had there origanal lagging from BR days still under their cladding when they came over to the uk or would it have been removed when BR parted with them in the 60s

No.s 8 and 10 still have asbestos lagging, with the exception of No.10's smokebox which required the expensive process of asbestos removal to allow a single chimney cowling and the bell to be re-fitted. They would have liked to remove it all on No.10 to allow stainless steel handrails to be fitted, but it proved to be too expensive.

Thanks for that info.So Basicaly you can move a locoarround that has asbestos still behind its clading.

As long as all the asbestos is sealed up tight, yes.
