"Trainspotting" - 30 years ago !!
Looking through some of my 35mm pics for images of Flying Scotsman on the ECML I came across this............
FS was on a special that day (1983) and I made my way to a favourite spot south of Newark.
Having parked my car about 200 yards from the bridge I looked over the parapet and to my horror this was the sight that came into view.
Bonkers !!!
Has anyone taken anything similar? (past or present)

Actually I think it's a nice photo - I like the overbridge in the background.

I wondered if your "bonkers" description was referring to the trespassers?
John.

Yes SS,
The situation became even more dangerous about half an hour later when FS turned up.
People were running across the track to get a "better view" !!

Here's trainspotting 45 years ago. However, trains do run on tracks and therefore have a predictable path. I am much more uneasy when a 44-ton lorry races past me a foot away when I'm walking, with no fence or safety barrier.

Loddington, Northamptonshire. This was the end of a branch westwards from Kettering via Cransley (famous as the graveyard of many steam and diesel locos). The branch originally served the iron/steelworks at Cransley and quarries at Loddington, and had no passenger stations. The connection at Kettering trailed off the down fast (!) north of the station, then running southwards behind the station and wagon repairs before turning westwards and falling very steeply. The train concerned was both the first and the last passenger train over the branch. No bush was killed in this....
