It has been rumoured a while, but here's the official press release:

This is a link to the live webcam to watch.They will be moving her sometime today or tommorow ( 13-11-2013 ) .This is awsome though i'm not a steam man,but it's still going to be awsome.May have to register with trains magaxine but once that's done.Web cam viewing is free so enjoy.

Even though it will be travelling most of the way on Company track, it is going to take a while to haul it to Cheyenne.

I was interested to note the UP practice of attaching a Big Boy acting as banking engine
inside the caboose. When the time came to detach the banker, it seems to have been commonplace to fly shunt the caboose back on to the rear of the train.

I do hope this is 'Not' going to be a 'backyard' job, 'we'll whip the boiler off with a couple of fork lifts' etc etc, it'll be Great to see one in action, rather than sixty year old footage. Excited

UP's Cheyenne shops operate No. 844 and the Challenger. The latter is the largest locomotive in running condition. So no, not a backyard job!
