Enjoyed your photos. I was there on Saturday and here's a thing..... Travelled by rail to L'bro to ride behind the Coal Tank, advertised as its last weekend on the GC. Bought a rover ticket; the man in front asked for a timetable (not buying a ticket) & was given one for a donation - £1. When I looked at the timetable, the Coal Tank was only hauling trains northbound, 3 trips, all just Rothley to Lbro, working demonstration freight s/bound. Timetable Byzantine but clearly showed the S/bound shuttles as Lbro-Quorn only then no more stops so caught much earlier Lbro-Lester train to get to Rothley. Was there from 0915 to 1800 (last train ran very late due to operators planning 3 trains at 2 platforms). In those 11 hours paid for rover ticket, main meal, snack, several coffees and patronised the bookshop; all money to the GC. Had 3 18 minute runs (actually one was slightly longer as run out of steam) for all that dosh. Couldn't see the demonstration freights. Only place possible to see them was Quorn but couldn't then have got to Rothley in time. So the curious point is this; the railway got 50 quid out of me but arranged things so that if I'd paid them a 1 quid and driven off to a bridge I would have seen a lot more. The trains were far from full; what happens when everyone just pays a quid and no-one travels?
