A relative has recently left their collection of 35mm slides (mostly holidays) to me in their Will.
I have only just got around to looking through them and have discovered numerous railway pictures.
Here is one of them, does anyone recognise the locomotive class, location or indeed anything about it?
He was well travelled throughout the world so it could have been anywhere.........
I will post others if there is an interest.

The two locomotives in the shed behind almost look like P2's!

Sorry guy's it doesn't move the story on one bit but that scene could be anywhere?.

Possibly either in Turkey, Italy, Hungary or Romania?.

Funny that you should post that picture Iron Duke because lately i have been watching one of my favourite WW2 war films again called the Train made in b/w in 1963 & released in 1964 and staring Burt Lancaster amongst several lesser known european actor's and there's a fair bit of French steam in this film which after watching this film for atleast 25-30 times over the last 5-6 years i have come to like in a strange kind of way, granted there steam locos aren't has prepossessing as a Gresley A3 but they do have there own kind of beauty.

Talking about looking like P2's this is, I think, the same location - French maybe?

To me, the subject loco looks French (especially around the cab)

Could the 2 'P2's be 141R class 2-8-2s??

I've seen pictures of those locos before, I'm thinking Spanish, could be wrong, I'll have a look through my books later, when it gets light !

The locos are Spanish.
The 2 in the background are RENFE class 241F with streamlining.

I noticed that a number of French steam loco driver's use to wear goggles while driving something that never really caught on amongst British driver's.

I noticed on one of the French locos SNCF 230B class in the film the Train (the Train film released in 1964 and staring Burt Lancaster) that there is a nice close up shot of the Westinghouse pump on the running plate.

Also noticed was a very slight G.W.R. Collett look to a side view of the cab side window and the immediate surrounding area?.

A very highly recommended film for the French steam enthusiast.

Anyone can buy the complete dvd of this film for about £5.

A 'very highly' recommended film which so far i've probably watched upwards of 30 times from start to finish!!.
