when were these engines withdrawn ?

These engines were withdrawn, I believe pretty much at the same time as all the rest of the class. This addition to the 9F's were not as successful as had been hoped and so they were eventually rebuilt to just plain 9Fs, although they still kept their distinctive shape. They were also, apparently, very unplesant to work on.

I do know that they were classified as an 8F , I have some cine footage with one double heading with another 9F. This was shot going thru Stoke with a steel train. However I can not be sure of the date, I think its 65 0r 66!.....ish

I forgot to mention that the crosti did have a smaller boiler too.

According to Longworth, the Crostis were withdrawn between Ocober 1966 and November 1967.
All were from Birkenhead, except 92027 (Speke) and 92028 (Saltley).
I think they spent their early lives at Wellingborough, didn't they?
