The LNER Encyclopedia

I have recently bought a couple of railway books for 'boys'. Can anyone tell me why the artists in both, have coloured the Hush Hush loco in LNER lined green, instead of its distinctive and very unusal grey?
Seems such a coincidence, were they told to show the "official" livery or ------- was it ever painted green!

It was never painted LNER apple green. William Brown's book on Hush Hush confirms that. It was most definitely an error on the respective artists' part, however the debate is open for whether they did it off their own backs, or 10000 was intended to be painted that way, we'll never know.
